Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Files [.pdf] will open slowly on
computers downloading by telephone line.

This section contains portable document files [*.pdf] containing appellate court briefs. Viewing requires Acrobat or an Acrobat Reader. All files have backward compatibility to Acrobat 4.0 (PDF 1.3) and security settings that require access codes. Acrobat 5.0 will read embedded annotations.

PDF files have a traditional typographic format and allow more efficient printing. Adobe supplies free versions of Acrobat Reader for Windows, DOS, Macintosh, and some UNIX systems.

Download the program from the Adobe Web Site. The Acrobat page contains instructions for downloading, installing, and using. Simply click on the file after saving it to the hard drive and the program will install automatically.

Embedded *.pdf files use the PDF ActiveX control. The documents may open either in a separate Acrobat window or within the browser window depending on the type of plugin installed with the Reader.
