Security Hazard. Mark Mullen employed Simon Rish-l, a professed Islamic fundamentalist and self-proclaimed Afghanistan mujahideen sympathizer as a "security" person without first obtaining a background check. He gave Rish-l master keys and entry codes that allowed him and his Islamic associates to enter the building at night. They downloaded seditious material from the Internet using federally-funded computers. Nmesis informed Richard R. B-r-sf-rd, Council House attorney, who did not respond. He then informed the Federal Bureau of Investigation and withheld publication to avoid provoking a violent situation. Later, Rish-l "resigned." During his watch someone stole the master keys. They mysteriously reappeared almost a week later. The thief probably now has copies of the keys. Mitchell has neglected to either change the locks or to increase security. His ineptitude and cover up have created a particularly dangerous situation given the recent events surrounding the Seattle Space Needle and the ongoing animus between Israeli and Palestinian sympathizers. Pygmies or pygmies. In Disconnected, the term "pygmy" means an unimportant individual like indifferent directors, negligent staff, and their panderers. Anthropologically, the term "Pygmy" describes a person with a physical height of less than sixty inches, who has a bare butt, and inhabits equatorial Africa or southeast Asia. If readers identify with the former then they should try to change their ways. If they identify with the latter then they should cover their butts before entering public rooms. Those people who do not identify with pygmies or Pygmies may consider themselves normal although small in physical stature. For instance, Mitchell classifies as a very tall pygmy. No person should concern themselves about the use of these terms unless they apply to them. Pride and Prejudice. The supreme court has banned hate speech but paradoxically maintains a right to express oneself freely. Ethnic intolerance by some Council House residents and the directors probably derives from years of familial indoctrination and misplaced pride. Political correctness results in self-censorship: silence that gives bigots power. The powerless do not have to adopt politically correct attitudes dictated by the powerful. If they suppress their prejudice by internalizing it as truth then only intolerance can result. Instead of silence, moral reform needs individuals to distinguish between prejudice and a rational world view then express both of them. Rational debate eliminates deep-seated, inherited hate through self-expression: something that the Council House directors and their stool pigeons have yet to learn. Self-imposed silence to cover up political and social intolerance of people economically and ethnically different eventually returns to haunt its advocates. The motto: "Do unto others as they have done unto you (or your forebears)" has no place in a society with divergent aspirations. Nmesis [027]
Ridicule. Invective belongs to satirists not to HUD sanctioned administrators. Mullen publicly ridiculed a resident who had reportedly asked him to arrange for landing pattern changes at Seatac airport so that aircraft would not fly over the Council House. Obviously, Mullen could not meet that request. However, instead of using compassion he used it as an example to compare with other requests. By that, he managed to create the impression that residents only make outrageous demands. By extension, he implied that all residents have delusions. Similarly, Mitchell characterized a persistent resident with a legitimate complaint as obsessive. Residents who accept arbitrary characterizations without refuting them give administrators the power to pursue the directors' laissez faire policies and coercive tactics. Nmesis [016]
Fast Response. Never at a loss to make a fast buck, the directors have signed a new agreement with the City of Seattle. They will close the ptomaine grotto/lounge area and rent the space for a new combined fire and police substation. This will provide more non-profits than bar mitzvoth and remove the religious connotation. It will also reduce the city's costs when answering the many 911 calls from Council House. For example, Carol P-ll-dius turned-in her drunken husband to police which involved four police cars and three ambulances. They transported Nestor to a hospital from which he returned half-naked the following morning. Not surprisingly, nightly noise from that apartment did not disturb the neighbors for the first time in over a year. The willfully blind administrator evidently employs deaf security people to monitor nocturnal noise. He writes that ". . . noise pollution has never been substantiated by our security nor have they prompted calls [to] the police. . . ." Nmesis [044]
Complaint Procedures. Administrators must resolve valid complaints that apply to conditions or quality of life. HUD directives published in 1994 required publication of complaint procedures and giving written copies of complaints to complainants. Council House has not complied with this law. This has allowed Mullen and Mitchell to coerce several residents into dropping complaints. HUD has received only one complaint from a Council House resident in six years. That resident tenaciously asked a US senator for help then Mullen could not erase the HUD record. Residents who have complained since 1994 should send Nmesis a signed and dated note describing the occurrence and the approximate date. If supporting documents exist then attach copies of them. He will consider only signed notes. Those people who wish to have their name withheld should say so then he will respect their wishes. Petition. Audrey Dunbar, partly salaried by the taxpayer, circulated a petition calculated to deprive a resident of his constitutional rights. She stupidly signed it herself. It read: "If you do not wish to receive literature, letters, requests of any kind from Paul Trummel sign and print your name below with your apartment #." Dunbar has no right to impose her politically correct orthodoxy on residents. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees all residents the freedom to write and to read also to speak and to listen. They can send the author a signed note if they do not wish to receive publications and Dunbar must neither promote nor interfere with that process. Several residents, disgusted with management practices, have sent compliments and others have voiced healthy disagreement. Contrastingly, the pandering pygmies have circulated anonymous disinformation apparently written to curry the administrator's favor. They continue to lurk in the shadows. Nmesis [045]
Pygmies at Work. Following a check into the credentials of Council House office staff, HUD has reclassified them as maintenance operatives. They have now started work in their new capacity by cleaning and refinishing apartment doors. They have finally found work for which they qualify. The lead operative, Stephen Mitchell (administrator for one week), claims that the budget does not contain enough money to pay the maintenance crew to undertake this work. Admirably, he has taken the initiative to undertake the work himself and has coopted the bookkeeper, the admissions director, and the service coordinator. This will show the directors what a compliant bunch of idiots they have employed. May residents next expect the fifteen directors themselves to turn up in overalls to clean the kitchen and blocked toilets? Or, will they take over the administrative duties and coercive persuasion operations? Nmesis [053]
Stevie Liar. Disinformation consists of a mixture of truth and lies used to make people insecure. This technique, used by Joseph Goebbels, helped the Nazis to gain control over the German people by coercing them to submit to an ideology. Then the supine populace destroyed itself through appeasement. Documents allegedly written and statements allegedly made under an oath by Mitchell, Dunbar and Ramsburg, use the same techniques. They have apparently organized a campaign to make residents fearful about losing their apartments through sale of the building and for other reasons. Residents should ignore unsubstantiated rumors and demand written evidence supporting all statements that employees make. HUD regulations forbid intimidation or coercion of residents. Now, Mitchell claims to have filed secret charges with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) about a resident. The ADL has failed to respond to questions about those allegations. This leads one to believe that they run kangaroo courts supporting harassment with no legal standing in a democracy. Nmesis [046]
Ptomaine Grotto. HUD will not fund any new mandatory meals programs because they infringe upon freedom to prepare meals or to use outside meal services. Code of Federal Regulations (24 CFR 278) regulates mandatory meals program. These rules provide for a variety of discretionary exemptions from the program yet Mullen has omitted them from the meal service agreement. Residents need to understand their rights and responsibilities then discuss the issues and vote upon them at properly constituted residents' association meetings. Administrators of residences without meals programs responded to a hud survey that absence of those programs had little or no adverse effect on elderly residents. The residents either prepared meals in their rooms or could obtain meals nearby. The survey showed that many people considered mandatory meals programs detrimental to the quality of their day-to-day lives. They all voiced dissatisfaction with the taste and variety of the food. Shvartzer. HUD neither requires residents to sit in assigned dining room seating nor does it grant administrators the authority to insist that they do so. No individual should have to sit next to a person in public rooms whom they find objectionable. For example, a Jewish resident reported a person using the derogatory Yiddish term "shvartzer" (nigger). If bigots wish to create ethnic ghettos in the dining room then they can ask for reserved tables for themselves and their fellow bigots. Dunbar could reserve tables with thirteen seats for each coven and a rack for their broomsticks. This would leave the other tables for seating by individual choice. That simple solution seems too difficult for her to comprehend. Moreover, her recent subliterate message (that Mitchell deliberately misattributed to the food service director) has added to the confusion and increased the demand for take-out meals at this Chez Putrescence.
