Evil, Anonymity, and Social Tyranny

Prejudice has affected indigent people for centuries. Now, affluent landlords persecute disadvantaged senior citizens using racial discrimination and other abuse. The all-Jewish board of directors should know better after learning more about prejudice and oppression from their forbears than most ethnic minorities. [Institutionalized Racism]

As benevolent dictators, they abuse aged, impoverished, and immigrant Jews (anti-Semitic Semitism) and other ethnic minorities. They use their affluence and power to generate hate and dysfunction using techniques similar to those used by the tyrants that oppressed their forbears. Primarily, they induce individualized evil shrouded by court-ordered anonymity.

The term “individualized evil” means dysfunctional behavior that causes subordinates to behave in ways that demean and dehumanize targeted victims, in this case elderly people. It consists of purposeful actions based on an ideology that has negative consequences for dissenters. In this case, it applies to administrators who employ kapos (thugs) to carry out their orders and enforce a repugnant ideology. [Five Kapos]

Individualized evil differs from institutional evil which defines societal poverty, ethnic discrimination, racial exclusion, and corporate greed. [01] Directors and administrators at Council House show a pattern or practice of both individualized and institutional evil.

A solution to this problem does not rest in simply identifying “evil people”. Progress towards a solution requires immediate action to stop deliberate transformation of good people into perpetrators of evil. The directors must change their attitudes to dispel a belief that the rich become rich through doing good and that the poor become poor through inherent evil.

Traditional psychiatry traces much violence and anti-social behavior back to unresolved infantile conflicts. Genetic pathology follows a similar path by blaming “bad seeds”. However, the same violent outcome appears in people who have not previously demonstrated evil impulses or pre-morbid personalities.

The study of evil, and coping with it, often creates new forms of evil. A thriving Holocaust industry [02] has developed through misappropriation of reparations. This has allowed sale of the Shoah instead of teaching subsequent generations about it. [03]

Council House directors have expanded that industry by misusing government funds intended for the relief of suffering. Instead, they have used them for equity appreciation. Unfortunately, the concept of identifying evildoers, then making them pay for their evil deeds, does not apply when corrupt judges give perpetrators anonymity and protect them from prosecution. Evil

Mel Gibson’s movie The Passion of the Christ provides an interesting analogy to Council House coercion, humiliation, abuse, and denial of culpability. The movie shows how the Chief Rabbi and Pharisees (an ancient Jewish sect that emphasized strict interpretation and observance of Mosaic law) conspired to kill Jesus then coerced Romans to humiliate, beat, and kill him.

Ostensibly, Jews stood on the sidelines cajoling Pontius Pilate to act in a way that their own laws prohibited. They orchestrated the hate then left the Romans to implement the torture and crucifixion. By proxy, they used kill-the-messenger techniques to silence a political dissenter then denied culpability. By coopting Romans, the Jews distanced themselves from the brutality as Council House directors distance themselves from the evil actions of their administrator.

Morality relates to good and evil as economics relate to profit and loss. In ideological warfare people relate to either friend or enemy without compromise. Jesus called upon his followers to love their enemies - an admirable religious concept. Council House proves that religious concepts and ideological indoctrination (illegal in government financially-assisted residences) do not work in secular environments.

The directors [Pharisees] with secret (financial) agendas allow and even encourage their administrators [Romans] to follow absolutist doctrines that violate federal and state laws. Disingenuously, they maintain anonymity to evade responsibility for breaking laws that they know would bring them punishment - they deliberately evade laws by proxy.

The movie analogy intensifies by adding a corrupt judge [Pilate], intent on currying favor with a senior judge [Caesar], who facilitates evil by mandating anonymity. Caesar, who has an equity stake through marriage in the rewards of evil, then orders his lawyer [Centurion] to mobilize his troops to kill the messenger and silence dissent.

The judges use judicial authority and immunity without responsibility. They deny justice then use propaganda to give the impression that they acted justly. This causes the public to acquiesce to their behavior. The famous maxim does not apply to them:

Justice should not only be done, but should manifestly and undoubtedly be seen to be done. [04]

Human endeavor relies upon duality - morality concerns good and evil and economics concerns profits or lack of them. However, in politics, the core distinction concerns friend and enemy which makes politics different from everything else. Jesus's call to love your enemy remains perfectly appropriate for religionists but becomes incompatible with the life-or-death stakes that politics and money involve.

Moralists preoccupy themselves with justice, economists with competition, and politicians with annihilation based upon extreme antagonism. Council House administrators, with their warped sense of power as landlords’ representatives, consistently treat any opposition by tenants to their abuse as antagonistic. They perceive dissent as an affront to their own ideology then vanquish antagonists. Compromise seldom enters the equation. [05] Although appeasement never (well, hardly ever) works, tenants fearfully try to appease the administrators and their thugs. This has led to even more tyranny. [Disconnected Profiles]

Following WWII, a team of psychologists tried to make sense of the Shoah - an exclusively Jewish phenomenon that patently ignores an equal number of non-Jewish victims of Nazism - and the broad appeal of national fascism under Hitler. They developed a theory called authoritarian personality syndrome which focused upon a set of personality factors that underlie fascist mentality. They concluded that those factors influenced millions of individuals to hate Jews and other minorities while admiring a dictator. However, the team omitted myriad circumstances that operated at political, economic, and societal levels, from their study. [06]

Other researchers later interviewed and tested nineteen inmates convicted of homicide in California prisons. Nine had a long history of violence. They showed lack of impulse control and had decidedly masculine sexual identity and classified as extroverted. Ten had not committed any criminal offense prior to homicide. Their excessive impulse control inhibited their expression of feelings and their sexual identity ranked as feminine or androgynous.

Given their mild manners and gentle disposition no one anticipated that the ten “shy” men would commit murder yet they killed just as violently as the habitual criminals. Their victims died just as decisively. However, the shy men had very different personas from the recidivists. This made it impossible to predict the murderous outcome using personality profiling. Individuals get praise, fame, and wealth for unique achievements. They also take the blame for the ills of society. Legal, medical, educational, and religious systems, all found on principles of individualism and education and professional training focuses upon personal orientation. Analysis usually founds upon personal disposition instead of collectivist values. This allows over- and under-utilization of situational explanations when faced with ambiguous scenarios. [08]

Blaming selected individuals or groups for evil creates “personal virtue”. It exonerates evil people from political decision-making that contributes to poverty, marginalization, racism, sexism, and elitism. Individuals distance themselves from evil acts through anonymity then promote “a good like us and bad like them” mentality. Blaming creates a dichotomy by assigning either good or evil traits arbitrarily. This provides a built-in comfort level for individuals and allows them to restrain uncomfortable dissent.

Disposition frequently correlates with individualism and affluence since wealthy people want to take personal credit for their success. Conversely, situational behavior arises from lower classes or ethnic groups that have experienced dysfunctional life styles imposed upon them by external circumstances. One can only understand situational behavior if one has grown up in poverty.

However, human beings can adapt to virtually any known environmental circumstance in order to survive, to create, and to destroy. People do not have tendencies toward good or evil at birth. Instead, they possess mental templates to act whichever way they choose and remain open to coercion. Salespeople, cult recruiters, and national leaders, parallel the strategies used by evil people to seduce ordinary citizens then frequently coerce them to engage in evil acts. To overcome coerced evil one must understand the strategies that these "influence professionals" use in real-world settings. [09]

The most insidious part of hate conditioning relates to presenting fiction as fact through pathological lying and propaganda. Neo-fascists spread evil pervasively and insidiously by turning education away from critical thinking that opens minds to new ideas. As with government propaganda, evil people target “the enemy” and influence them by controlling education and media with propaganda. [Thespian Liar]

Any administrator with a modicum of authority can easily produce the fantastic scenarios depicted in George Orwell's frightening novel, 1984, by coercive persuasion. The institutionalized evil that Orwell vividly portrayed goes beyond imagination when cult leaders in closed societies or government agencies give operational validity to prophetic vision. Anonymity

Management anonymity within closed societies forces dissenters to seek their own type of anonymity. They withdraw in fear of reprisal for speaking out so that no one can assess their plans to retaliate. This can make them dangerous to other people. [10] [Conspiracy of Silence]

Charismatic or dictatorial power enables leaders to control an elite with members who, through lifestyle or religious indoctrination, wish to avoid evil. Elitists usually live in fear and flock together like sheep. This probably derives from not recognizing negative situational circumstances during upbringing that they have spent a lifetime denying.

Elitist groups (under the absolute control of a leader) assert themselves to give an illusion of moral superiority usually based in the pluralistic ignorance of their members. Then the group leader can use collective power to engage, and persuade others to engage, in evil deeds while the coerced people maintain a belief that evil deeds remain alien to their nature.

Psychological and social dynamics researchers have questioned why "good" people begin to act in anti-social ways. The transformation of the good Dr. Jekyll into the murderous Mr. Hyde leaves one forever curious about a chemical formula that could have such an immediate and profound physical and psychological effect. One must also ask if other circumstances bring about similar psychological changes.

Since Council House administrators probably did not have access to Dr. Jekyll’s evil elixir before they behaved abusively to their tenants then psychological aberration must enter into the transformative equation. This prompts one to ask: What causes deranged and emotionally immature administrators to humiliate and to deprive senior citizens of their dignity and humanity, mobilize them into an elite group, then coerce them collectively to perform evil deeds against their peers? Do psychopaths need to balance emotional immaturity with tyranny?

Anonymity allows destructive behavior prohibited by law especially when authority figures coerce elite groups to behave aggressively. Rules or court orders that allow them to remain anonymous provide absolute power to act in an evil way each time an opportunity arises.

Individuals within an elite group collectively and individually insulate themselves from responsibility and the combination of anonymity and violence takes on a life or death significance. They effectively have a judge’s permission to act in immoral ways that probably reflect his own behavior in the courtroom. [Court-Facilitated Terror]

The story about Kitty Genovese, which made national headlines, comes to mind. Thirty-nine people in a housing complex heard Genovese scream and did nothing to help her when the perpetrator stalked, stabbed, and eventually murdered her. Similar neutrality occurred at Council House in the death of Jackie Nations. [Who Killed Jackie Nations?]

Genovese witnesses followed the maxim that individuals present at a crime scene generally believe that others can help a victim then do nothing themselves - they pass by on the other side. The presence of other people sometimes diminishes personal responsibility and morality. People who join elitist groups can commit evil acts, either individually or as a group, with impunity.

Both actors and soldiers don costumes then follow paths dictated by others without thinking through the meaning or consequences of their actions. They imitate others or act on aroused emotional states. Conversely, cognitively motivated terrorists succeed by using faceless and placeless fear and anxiety.

Government officials send peaceful young men to kill innocent people in a war. They find that easy to accomplish if they treat them like stage actors and change their appearance with uniforms or masks. With anonymity, out goes the usual internal focus of compassion and concern for others then the persona takes over to abuse, to kill, and to lie, at will. However, soldiers win or lose wars through visibility while terrorists succeed through anonymity. [Thespian Liar]

Any individual at any time and in any place can become an active and successful terrorist by remaining anonymous. Success only requires comprehensive, long-term planning and indoctrination by authority figures. However, terrorists cannot succeed without socio-psychological coercion and support.

Council House, in company with other closed societies, provides a haven of anonymity for people who live there. If they have lived as part of a normal family then they do not generally have a sense of community outside the family unit. Living in a closed society gives them a new-found independence that allows administrators or elitists to coerce them with impunity. Elitist group leaders hold absolute power from delegated authority that allows them to coerce by instilling fear then corrupting new members. At Council House tenants have seen this happen repeatedly and do not risk personal exposure by whistle-blowing which effectively gives the directors and administrators a “licence to kill”.

Stronger converts to independent living have greater moral responsibility. Not able to obtain fair treatment they resort to providing information to journalists knowing that they will not divulge the identity of their informants. They insist on anonymity in fear that perpetrators whom they have exposed will target them for abuse or eviction - a common practice used by Council House administrators.

Media

Freelance journalists document the struggles of ordinary people. Then senior citizens, immigrants, unemployed, dispossessed, dissidents, and ethnic minorities, gain dignify as news sources. Elders classify as mainstream people yet mainstream media virtually ignores them and derogates those who write about them. However, when heard, their voices eventually shape movements and make history. They change the world just as much as the voices of generals, bankers, and politicians.

Journalists have a responsibility to provide a voice to those who have no voice - those whom powerful people have forgotten, forsaken, or silenced. They break the silence for disadvantaged people by spreading the word to the world at large. Journalists should not expect to change anything so they rely upon their readers and sources to act responsibly.

All people now face important issues - war or peace and life or death - that will affect this millennium. Yet a majority of publishing oligarchies shape all discourse and echo only those opinions expressed by generals, corporate executives, and government officials. The present control of diverse opinion models media dissemination historically used by totalitarian regimes - silence and anonymity counterbalanced by propaganda. Council House uses that ideological technique to disseminate propaganda. Their nepotistic infiltration of other corporations supports their self-interest and self-aggrandizement. [Propaganda]

In a democracy, a constitution usually enshrines freedom of the press. However, some mainstream media predominantly act as a megaphone for those in power and concurrently ignore dissent to provide a biased view that supports media economics. [11] For instance, The Jewish Transcript (Seattle) appointed a Council House director to its board while simultaneously accepting advertising. That could rank as an ethical arrangement, however, Council House uses that affiliation to evade the law through draconian court orders issued by tame judges. Those orders deny human rights, civil liberties, and freedom of expression. Then The Jewish Transcript publishes lies and propaganda provided by Council House administrators with impunity.

Council House directors request the court to grant unlawful no-contact orders that unconstitutionally remove civil rights. To this end, they file frivolous briefs containing subornation and perjury. Without questioning witnesses or their victims, captive judges deny any attempt at refutation then grant the directors’ requests. Subsequently, tame media ignore journalism ethics and do not report activities that blatantly contravene rules for judicial conduct.

In contrast to media corporations with nothing to tell and everything to sell, freelance reporters form an integral part of a truthful news flow. They also bear the brunt of abuse from those who would silence them. They have a right to tell stories and document lives without interference by judges, media hacks, ideologues, and special interest groups.

Political Correctness

Political correctness devotees claim that insensitive language hurts people and that their restrictive guidelines protect the weak. Historically, totalitarian societies adhered to these precepts initially to gain total control of freedom of expression and later to enforce political and religious agendas. Then absolute control caused the death of millions of people. Government has no legitimate control over societal standards and can only undermine liberty if it tries to mandate morality or reverse economic disadvantage by mandate.

Anonymity derived from political correctness and speech codes helps tyranny to continue unchallenged. Regulating speech to provide anonymity dangerously inhibits a free society. Framers of the US Constitution recognized this and explicitly prohibited Congress (or maverick judges) from making any laws that might abridge freedom of speech or of the press.

Political correctness advocates claim freedom of expression yet brand anything they find personally unpalatable as “hate speech”. By that, they attempt to silence constitutionally protected dissent. As control freaks, they try to “improve” personal behavior and deny “rude” language by others then use anonymity to cover up their own morally repugnant actions. By that, they cause job loss, ruin careers, disrupt public speakers, and silence writers. Advocates create a self-censored, silent society then remain anonymous to do whatever they want regardless of law. [Conspiracy of Silence]

First Amendment rights protect both non-controversial, politically correct, speech also the ideas and beliefs of controversial people and dissenters. If prudes deem language rude, prejudicial, or irreligious and claim offense then they probably have an ulterior motive or hidden agenda. They campaign for that agenda by attacking expression that they deem obnoxious or offensive then claim harassment and invasion of privacy.

Real harm ensues when they try to introduce laws (or persuade judges to make decisions) that threaten freedom of expression. Political correctness does not silence or affect bigoted or profane people. Instead, it silences genuine dissenters and provides tyrants with anonymity so that they can spread pernicious ideologies and propaganda at will. Ideology and fanatical religious beliefs endanger democracy and seemingly well-intended attacks on speech covertly endorse an underlying principle that suppresses dissent to protect self-interest. Social Tyranny

Few people will disagree that systematic torture by inflicting severe mental or physical pain on senior citizens exposes a dark side of human nature. Elders share a common enemy when administrators, without any justification, publicly declare them crazy and dangerous to others then promote ostracism to enforce that characterization. Then, kapos (thugs) coerce victims into writing apologies and false declarations using orchestrated scenarios for later use as confessions and for blackmail.

This procedure overcomes the victim’s natural propensity to claim innocence, to deny culpability, and to rebel against intimidation. In fear, victims find it easier to acquiesce to coercion. Administrators control kapos by making them feel special and better than their peers. Kapos also get job satisfaction from the secrecy attached to their duties and the pressure to produce results. Torturers analyze personal relationships. They determine vulnerability to decide which coercive procedure and level of intensity to apply to a person at a particular time. Learning to select the right kind and degree of coercive persuasion usually yields a desired confession. Acting on an incorrect premise, or applying too little coercion, fails to achieve results. Success provides rewards in cash or kind for kapos and a flow of praise for administrators backed by media propaganda published in captive newspapers.

Anonymous transformation procedures for kapos compare with those used for al-Qaeda operatives. al-Qaeda employs social, psychological, and motivational techniques. Then, propaganda turns latent hatred and bigotry into a reality. Destroying any moral inclinations they may possess conditions them for use as abusers and assassins (or character assassins).

Government persists in describing al-Qaeda operatives as poor, desperate, socially isolated, illiterate young people without careers or a future who have adopted fatalistic roles. Interrogation of actual operatives dispels that stereotype. Studies show that intelligent, attractive, educated, young men and women, connected with family and community, perform terrorist acts for al-Qaeda.

Consequently, situations described as mindless murder by observers define differently for those involved. For al-Qaeda operatives and their kin, the acts classify as neither mindless nor senseless. Terrorists have a very different mind set and different sensibilities to those of young people in democratic societies.

Neither al-Qaeda nor administrators normally use sadists as kapos because they cannot control them. Misanthropes and sadists enjoy inflicting pain for its own sake. Consequently, they do not concatenate (link dependently) - an essential attribute in both organized coercion and terrorism. [Noblesse Oblige]

Council House directors’ irrational choice in employing pathological liars as administrators and social misfits as kapos instead of educated people, will greatly contribute to their downfall. The directors have relied upon a declared misanthrope as their principal kapo and have knowingly allowed him to suborn about fifty tenants in a consort with their attorneys. Machination will probably land those attorneys in front of a bar inquiry, it will certainly not result in them winning an appeal of the frivolous orders that they unlawfully obtained.

Both administrators and kapos can only become scapegoats when the directors try to cover their tracks after realizing the imminent danger of prosecution. Meanwhile, some members of the elite group of tenants will quietly move on to a warmer clime while the remainder sheepishly wait for another shearing by a new shepherd.

Conclusion

Tyranny will continue at Council House until its directors offer alternatives. A high proportion of tenants believe that the directors need to clean house by employing a completely new team of qualified administrators that possesses both morals and ethics. The directors must also evict the people they employ as kapos who receive wages and/or benefits in kind.

American law does not distinguish between principals or their agents in the commission of unlawful acts. It holds directors liable for their own acts also acts by their agents. Consequently, when directors employ people or subcontract for a service they remain jointly and severally liable for any willful or negligent damage to third parties. Directors may neither claim ignorance of wrongdoing by their employees and agents nor remain unaccountable and anonymous.

At Council House (a non-profit corporation mandated to disclose the names of its directors) the board maintains strict anonymity using fraudulent court orders to cover up wrongdoing. The directors use tongs to handle hot coals and expect to walk away without getting burned under the auspices of a disingenuous court system.

Washington Supreme Court unanimously ordered Washington Court of Appeals to hear the case (04 Sep 02). After oral argument (14 Nov 03) the appellate court has failed to make an expeditious determination. This continues to exacerbate elder abuse under a cloak of silence mandated by several trial court findings since (19 Apr 01).

Council House directors need to employ overt negotiating strategies that promote tenant responsibility instead of covert ideological strategies that cause unlawful eviction, imprisonment, suicide, or other premature death. Accenting differences between racial and religious groups has allowed successive administrators to manipulate tenants and deliberately cause discord. This has given them a feeling of power which has allowed them to terrorize tenants.

Transformation requires that older people share their values, their education, their resources, to explore commonalities not to highlight differences. Congress has mandated procedures for complaints, a democratic resident association, and administration accountability to tenants.

However, Council House directors have negated those procedures by appointing tyrants as administrators, condoning neo-fascist policies enforced by thugs, and manipulating the court system. Evil, anonymity, and social terrorism come in all stripes and colors and know no bounds at Council House. [Neo-Fascism, Violence, and Indifference]
