Browser Compatibility
Designers do not have absolute control over the display of web sites because programming criteria and user preferences vary. Therefore, the Contra Cabal designer has used Microsoft Internet Explorer v.5.50 for the design format although some elements will not conform to his specification when viewed in Netscape Communicator v.4.73.
Pages also appear differently on a variety of platform monitors, for example, PC and Macintosh. However, the use of cascading style sheets has reduced the number of variables but may increase problems with older browsers.
Monitor resolution and browser typeface defaults present another problem. The designer has selected 800 x 600 pixels and Verdana as defaults. Users with a PC, Windows 98, and Internet Explorer 5.50, with the default resolution set to 800 x 600 pixels and the default typeface set to Verdana (View > Text Size > Smaller), should have no problems. If problems do occur with this configuration then please inform:
webmaster@contracabal.org
Readers may obtain free browsers:
Microsoft Explorer v.5.50 from
http://www.microsoft.com
Netscape Communicator v.4.73 from
http://home.netscape.com/computing/download/index.html
The designer has tried to create pages for legible viewing under a variety of conditions. Some pages will not display properly on out-of-date browsers. Therefore, he has attached Acrobat files to each essay to provide an alternative method of viewing and printing. These files will display and print in both Acrobat v.3.0 and v.4.0.
Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Files (*.pdf)
The web site contains an embedded portable document file for each essay besides the HTML formatted file. The PDF files have a traditional typographic format for more efficient printing. Readers must have an Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Exchange installed on their computers to view PDF files.
Adobe supplies free versions of Acrobat Reader for Windows, DOS, Macintosh, and some UNIX systems. If readers do not have an Acrobat reader installed on their computer then they can download a free copy from the web. The Adobe web page contains the program file and instructions for downloading, installing, and using the program. Simply click on the file after saving it to your hard drive and the program installs automatically. Download the program from:
http://www.adobe.com
The embedded *.pdf files use the PDF ActiveX control. The essays may open either in a separate Acrobat window or within the browser window depending on the type of plugin installed with the reader.
Adobe Systems Inc. has licensed the use of the Acrobat logotype to Contra Cabal. The name Adobe, and the Adobe and Acrobat trademark logotypes, belong to Adobe Systems Incorporated.
Publishing Schedule and Method
Publishing Contra Cabal in stages allows for complete verification and validation. It also provides a practical way to protect the databases from a third destruction attempt. Bulleted items link to subject matter. Several essays result from excerpting previously published work and others report new revelations that frequently occur during investigation of disclosures made by sources.
The web site will eventually contain all new and previously published work. However, the size and complexity of the overall project determines a practical need to publish in stages. Several hundred essays have reached copyediting, final investigation, validation, verification, or remain under investigation.
Delays in verification occur because the Washington State Attorney General and the University of Washington continue unlawfully to deny access to public records. They use this tactic, and many other bureaucratic ploys, to cover up crimes at the University of Washington that the Attorney General should have prosecuted long ago.
In addition, officials at the University of Washington have again tried to crack/hack then sabotage the Contra Cabal computers and databases: a repetition of their previous acts and violations of federal law. Please report any unusual technical difficulties or suspicious occurrences to webmaster@contracabal.org for onward transmission to state and federal authorities.
Nmesis.
